PTO President's Corner

Copeland friends and families,

I want to start off by saying a heartfelt ‘Thank you’ for all your support during this school year. Copeland is a special place, filled with amazing teachers and staff who work tirelessly to support and encourage our students. Through your support, via your volunteer time, support of our fundraisers, and attendance at our community events you helped to create community and provide our students with fabulous opportunities.

I also want to specifically recognize your wonderful 2023-2024 PTO board: Deepa Ozarkar, Majesta Carraway, LaKishia Edwards, Magen Hall, Kimberly Capers, Joye Jackson, Kimberly Martinez, and Rebecca Bintcliffe. These ladies put in an immense amount of time, energy, and work into Copeland, and this year has been exceptional as a result. I want to extend a special thank you to two members of our Board who are leaving us this year as their children move onto middle school.

LaKishia Edwards is our social media and website extraordinaire who is our longest serving board member. LaKishia has been a part of the PTO board for over 5 years and has given so much of herself to make Copeland a better place, she has built a wonderful online presence for the PTO allowing us to better connect with our families. Kimberly Martinez, this year’s secretary, joined our board just last year but has worked as a PTO volunteer for years prior as a PE Chair helping to make our field days the best around, as a spirit cart volunteer, and spending time pitching in wherever possible to lend a helping hand. Our school is better because of you, and we are more thankful for you than you can imagine!

The goal of the Copeland PTO is to provide educational enrichment opportunities for our students, enhance the partnership between student families and school, and support and care to those working with our children.  With your help we have been able to do just that all year long! All our K-5th Grade students were able to experience an off-campus field trip this year, our 3rd graders grew an amazing school garden, we strengthened our community through events like Trunk or Treat, Winterfest, and Movie Night; and celebrated a record-breaking spring fundraiser with an epic Bubble Run! If you have not yet done so, please consider joining our mission and getting involved as a volunteer. We have opportunities of all shapes and sizes; based at home, in school, or around special events. Getting involved is a great way to show your child you are invested in their education, and I can guarantee you will not regret it. Copeland is truly special, and it takes all of us to keep it that way.

I want to congratulate our 5th grade families moving on from Copeland. We hope you know ‘Once a Colt, Always a Colt’, and we wish you the best in your move to middle school.  I hope all our families and staff have a fantastic summer.

Til next year,

Laurie Alexander

SCIENCE RESOURCE CENTER

What a fun filled year! Thank you so much to all of you that volunteered to present science demos and assist with SRC field trips! Your time and efforts have been very much appreciated by staff and students alike!

Kinder had their Animal Odyssey field trip last week, and got to check out quite a few animals. They even got to pet a Uromastyx!

Next week 5th grade will have the final demo of the year CSI! Our crime scene investigators will use science to figure out who done it!

Again a huge thank you to all of our volunteers,  I look forward to meeting even more of you next year. Watch the Copeland PTO Facebook page for training opportunities closer to next school year!

May Staff Appreciation Lunch

We scored when you became a teacher!  We will always cheer you on! @copelandcfisd has the best staff around!

The PTO showed our appreciation by providing lunch! We would like to thank Jason's Deli Copperfield location for giving us a great deal with the sandwich trays and chips. We thank Gulf Coast Bread Pudding for their generous donation of delicious bread pudding. Thanks to the Cheng family for the amazing homemade macarons! Thanks to HEB and our PTO volunteers for the fruit salad and serving. Also, a shout out to the Langham Creek Cheer coaches for letting us borrow some cheer gear to help decorate.

Movie Night Silent Auction

Thank you to all of our donors, sponsors, and bidders who participated in our annual silent auction! Your support helps us keep funding our beloved Copeland.
