I realize we are now a month into school, but this is our first official newsletter! What a month it has been. I hope you are all as excited about this year as I am.
Our PTO Board works hard for the staff, students, and families always. As most of us on the board roll into our second year, we have some really exciting things planned for everyone.
On Wednesday, our children got to enjoy a great fundraiser kickoff, and we hope you are as excited as we are about some of these amazing products. Please post to social; have your child ask friends, family, and neighbors; and even talk to your coworkers. These products can ship anywhere in the country! If you just ask the question, you'll be amazed at how positively people will respond. :)
We have some great volunteer opportunities coming up. We'll need help for hearing and vision screenings on October 3-4 (more details below), Field Days (October 11-13: information to follow from your Homeroom Coordinator), Truck or Treat on October 28, Fall Family Fun Fest on November 12, and so much more! Please follow us on Facebook (facebook.com/copelandelementarypto) and Instagram (@copelandelementarypto) for all the latest updates.
Finally, please join us October 4th for a PTO General Meeting via Zoom. You can also find those details below. Thanks so much for all your support, and I look forward to another amazing year with our Copeland Colts!
Your one-time $12 family membership allows us to provide fun activities for your kids, field trips, playground equipment, classroom tools, teacher appreciation, and so much more all year!
We are kicking off a new year in the garden! The 3rd graders have gotten right to work getting their hands dirty and planting their fall vegetables. They started off with beets, radishes and kale planted from seeds. Take a stroll through the garden and be on the lookout for sprouts!
Our next garden day is 9/20. Parents, please help your child dress appropriately for garden days as we do get dirty.
Volunteer Opportunities
We love our Copeland Volunteers! We have so many fun ways to help out at our school. Listed below are descriptions of each role still available as well as who to contact if interested. We would greatly appreciate the help!
Homeroom Coordinators Needed
Hello parents! We are still in need of a Homeroom Coordinator for the following classes:
Pre-K - Alanis
2nd - Berry
2nd - Derouen
2nd - Drisdale
2nd - McConnell
2nd - Sheldon
4th - Delk
4th - Kohen
5th - Alvarado
5th - Colburn
5th - Reeder
Our Homeroom Coordinators support our teachers and the class! This role would involve sending email communications to class parents keeping them informed of school/class activities. They are also responsible for creating and managing signups to be sent out to their class parents for needed supplies for upcoming events such as class parties, field day, etc.
If you are interested in supporting any of our available classes by serving as Homeroom Coordinator, or have any questions, please send an email to Magen Hall at copelandptovips@gmail.com
Science Resource Center
Are you interested in being more hands on in your child's science education? Here is your chance!
The Science Resource Center trains parents to present demos to our kids. Some are live animal demos, some are not. If you like the ideas of presenting, but aren't comfortable handling the animals, consider training with a friend and split the duties!
September and October are full of training opportunities, and Demos begin in October!
Our hearing and vision screenings are coming up next month! October 4 and 5 are the screening dates, and we need your help!
We would love to have someone train to be our clinic chair for next year! Also, we need those of you who are certified to screen for hearing and screening to help out. We'll also need a few assertive volunteers to help shuttle the kids from place to place and help keep them quiet. Please sign up if you are able to help out!
Our Copeland Library is the heartbeat of our school, and we have a special family of volunteers who help keep it running! Our volunteers help students check out books and shelve the books for other students to enjoy. We'd love for you to join us. We'll have a training for all our new volunteers and get you on the schedule to help our wonderful students experience the joy of reading!
Please make sure that when you volunteer you log your hours. This helps the district and state keep up with community involvement as well as shows us who to award Volunteer of the month! Click on the button below to do so. Thank you!
We are so excited to kick off our Fall Fundraiser this week!
We heard your feedback last year and have moved to a catalog-based fundraiser for fall with some great shopping options for the upcoming holiday season!
Your kiddos should have brought home their fundraiser catalogs on Tuesday. Remember to setup their sales page online and share with family and friends.
